Forschungsprojekte zu Gender und Wissenschaft
Das EU-Forschungsprojekt hatte als übergreifendes Ziel, die Beteiligung von Wissenschaftlerinnen in den verschiedenen Bereichen der Bauforschung in Europa zu stärken. Auf der Basis eigener quantitativer und qualitativer Datenerhebungen und mittels Sekundäranalysen wurden die berufliche Situation von Frauen in der Bauforschung und die Ursachen für deren Unterrepräsentanz näher beleuchtet. Dabei besonders im Mittelpunkt stand die Erforschung von Barrieren, denen Frauen bei ihrer Karriereentwicklung im Bereich der Bauforschung gegenüber stehen. Des Weiteren wurden Forschungsbereiche identifiziert, die für Frauen besonders attraktiv sind. Aufbauend auf den Projektergebnissen wurden Empfehlungen für künftige Maßnahmen erarbeitet und ein europäisches Netzwerk für Bauforscherinnen aufgebaut.
Fünf Organisationen aus Spanien, Dänemark, Deutschland, dem Vereinigten Königreich und der Tschechischen Republik führten dieses Projekt als Konsortialpartner durch, die Leitung lag bei LABEIN TECNALIA, Spanien.
The overall objective of the WomenCore project is strengthening women scientists' participation in 'construction research' in Europe by means of: enhancing the knowledge of women and their influence in construction research, identification of main research areas attractive from women's perspective, identification and assessment of gender-specific needs of R&D in construction sector, exploring new opportunities and anticipating tendencies for empowering women in construction research, providing recommendations for empowering women in construction research, disseminating results and establishing a network of women scientists in construction.
The following main measurable scientific and technical results were expected:
assessment of the state of the art of qualitative data and the state of the art (availability and accuracy) of quantitative data on women in construction research, mapping construction research;
potential supply of high-qualified women, assessment on women participation in construction research EU funded projects, women participation in patents, women participation in publication and citation;
results of the surveys to about 1000 organisations and about 8000 scientists, 40 biographical case studies of women in construction research, 15 institutional construction case studies, assessment on new patterns of women as patent originators, impact of gender on success in peer review acceptance, assessment of mentoring programmes and networking experiences in construction research;
driving forces and trends of gender (in)equality in construction research, development of new gender indicators in construction research, assessment of the possibilities of establishing a mentoring programme in construction research, database of possible mentors for construction research, set of recommendations for women in construction research;
web site consultation of about 10.000 visitors, an international conference with about 300 attendants and 12 national seminars with about 1500 persons, a European Network of Women Scientists in Construction.
