Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser assumes patronage for FReDA

The data infrastructure project FReDA of the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) aims to significantly improve and secure in the long term research and data basis on the life situation, life satisfaction and values of families and people in young and middle adulthood.

Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser in a BMI press release: "I am pleased to be able to take over the patronage of such a lighthouse project of population research. [...] This long-term study is of great value both for science and for political action."

The acronym FReDA stands for "Family Research and Demographic Analysis." The representative family demographic repeat survey is an innovative research data infrastructure project that has been running since 2020, with project management based at the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) and funded by the federal government. For this purpose, more than 30,000 participants aged 18 to 49 are comprehensively surveyed twice a year about their individual life situation as well as their attitudes regarding partnership and family life. The study is a cooperative project between the BiB, GESIS and the University of Cologne.
