The many faces of GESIS
Vita
Mr. Kohne initially studied Psychology in the Bachelor's program at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the Netherlands, and subsequently completed his Master's degree in Research in the Behavioral and Social Sciences with a focus on research methods and social psychology. After completing his studies, Mr. Kohne took several courses in the areas of Data Science and Machine Learning and spent some time as an intern in the GESIS department of Computational Social Science (CSS), where he was involved in the "Learning Curves on Wikipedia" project.
From October 2017 to October 2022, Mr. Kohne worked as a scientific officer in the President's Office at GESIS, coordinating the preparation, successful application, and initial implementation of a strategic special purpose grant in the field of "Digital Behavioral Data".
Since October 2022, Mr. Kohne has been a scientific staff member in the Computational Social Science department in the Designed Digital Data team, working on the development of the GESIS AppKit - a smartphone-based data collection infrastructure for social scientists.
Mr. Kohne is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Ulm University in the Molecular Psychology department, focusing on the topic of "Quantifying Interpersonal Relationships using Chat Log Data."
Service
At GESIS, I’m part of the Designed Digital Data team, focusing on providing an easy to use, transparent and secure infrastructure for collecting mobile survey and smartphone usage data for social science research.Research
As a PhD student at Ulm University, I am part of the molecular psychology lab and investigate how interpersonal relationships can be quantified using chat logs, specifically donated WhatsApp chat logs. I am developing interactive methods for transparent data donation methods, and investigate how social relationships are expressed through different communication patterns.Publications
